I
was born in Dunedin, fortunate to come from a very creative
family
with my grandfather being one of New Zealand’s first
talkie movie makers. I left New Zealand at a very young age
to travel the world. I studied Fine Art and Textiles in Australia
and after marrying my Indian husband, I moved to Cambridge
in the United Kingdom. |
|
I
continued Art studies in Norwich and Cambridge and spent
a year in Madras,
India, studying Indian Art and Textiles. Having fallen in
love with the Indian style of art and their philosophy I
started
to develop my own style of paintings, mostly with an eastern
flavour, and had my first solo exhibition at Magdalene College,
Cambridge University. This was followed by other solo exhibitions
in Cambridge and London, the most prestigious being at J.P.Morgan
the Merchant Bankers in London which was their very first
Art Exhibition as part of their “Shining Star” programme
which aided children’s charities. |
I have
become very well known for my work depicting elephants, a subject
I find very endearing. Recently I have started working more
intensely with colour on larger canvases sometimes with reference
to landscapes others with just expressing the essence and the
energy of the colour from the wonderful countries I have lived
in and visited. |
